About Paul
Paul Misipeka – Apart from holding a Diploma of Financial Counselling, Paul has 19 years of business ownership and extensive experience in Small Business Financial Counselling and consulting, Paul brings a practical understanding of business sustainability and resilience. As a Small Business Financial Counsellor for Central Western Queensland (2020-21) and now for Cairns and Surrounds, he supports business owners to strengthen capability, improve confidence, and develop clear recovery and growth strategies. From 2026, Paul has taken on the Lead role for Financial Resilience within Small Business Support North Qld.
Over the past five years, Paul has delivered targeted consultancy and hardship support programs to high-risk clients, including as a Business Consultant with Deloitte/AusIndustry under the Federal Government’s Entrepreneurs’ Program – Strengthening Business, and as Business Resilience Officer at Somerset Regional Council (2022). His work within Local Disaster Management Teams further strengthened his ability to guide businesses through uncertainty, particularly after severe weather events.
In 2023 Paul also served as Project Manager for the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ), successfully delivering infrastructure projects across 16 Far North Queensland Indigenous councils. His deep cultural awareness and experience working with regional and remote Queensland communities underpin his client-centred, solution-focused approach.
